It is a grand strategy game made by Stockholm, Sweden based game developer Paradox Interactive and was first released in 2012. Since then Paradox Interactive has released a barrage of DLCs, both furthering the game experience and changing the appearance of units, avatars and other in-game aesthetics with many cosmetic expansions. In addition, players have been creating hundreds of mods.
Here are my favorite mods that add a little bit of extra flavor to the game.
#3CK2Plus Mod
This mods mainly changes the existing mechanics in the game and was designed to deepen the game experience for seasoned players of the Vanilla version by making it increasingly more difficult. This was the first mod I ever installed after getting somewhat bored with the Vanilla game. It definitely makes it more challenging to become a successful ruler.

As a huge fan of the Game of Thrones TV show and the books by George Martin I had to install and play this mod as soon as I heard about it. This full-conversion mod transports the player into the world of Westeros and Essos, where you either play as one of the famous dynasties from the books or start your own in order to win the game of thrones and become the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms or to find your place elsewhere in this low-fantasy medieval world.

My single most favorite mod for Crusader Kings II is another full-conversion modification that transforms the vanilla game into the world of the Elder Scrolls franchise. Here you assume control over one of the many realms in Tamriel and play es one of the many races that live in this world.
Aside from the already very captivating gaming experience the Vanilla game has to offer, this mod lets you immerse in a fantasy world using cross-genre material from one of my most beloved video games franchise, while maintaining the essence of Crusader Kings II game play.
