My son introduced me to RimWorld about a month ago, and I am absolutely hooked! I very much enjoy reading the forums (especially due to the maturity and respectfulness of the contributors). I've loaded a few of the Star Wars mods and have a question regarding how to 'rank' the different available weapons. Note to players: This mod will not change your game, but rather it lets modders do more, so you can have an even more amazing RimWorld experience. Note to modders: This mod contains components that allow you to do many new and different things in RimWorld.
Welcome, guideoui.com visitors. In this guide, We try to show list of mods for Rimworld game While writing this guide, We pick up many pieces of information from several sites for you. We hope that this guide will help you.
Core Mods: Download these first.
Make sure these mods are top in your mod list.
HugsLib– Library that provides functionality for pretty much all other Mods you’ll want to download Should be first in your list directly beneath Core folder.
JecsTools – Core mod for all Jecrell mods that add in game scenarios.
GiddyUp! Core – Core file for GiddyUp! series (where you can ride animals on attack, to collect materials, etc. See below). Depends on HugsLib, so place below in Mod list.
Miscellaneous ‘CORE’ – Core file for ‘Misc’ series. Some of those are listed below.
Biomes! Core – Biomes! Core provides the framework for the Biomes! mod series. This mod will add multiple new Biomes to the world along with the plants and animals to populate them.
Humanoid Alien Races 2.0 – A framework for the creation of new alien races in Rimworld.
Expansion Packs: More than just the vanilla offering
I found that I got bored quite easily, and wanted more…stuff to do? These are the top expansion packs I’ve found that add a bit more to the game.
Dubs Bad Hygiene – If you’re going to download any mod for expansion, I recommend this one, especially for players who have clocked in a bunch of hours. I absolutely LOVE Dubs Bad Hygiene. I found it really hard at first, but just look at the images provided, and it will make it easier. Adds a sewage system, toilets, bathing, hygiene related needs and mood effects, central heating, water, irrigation, fertilizer, air conditioning, hot tubs, kitchen sinks, you name it!
Medieval Times – Medieval Times operates as a game expansion, filling out early game / Tribal era content as Medieval era items, weapons, armour and buildings. Brings tons of new production items. Also adds 2 new types of Medieval factions to the game.
A RimWorld of Magic – “This mod adds classes with unique abilities. Additional features include over 10 unique apparel/equipment options, gem crafting and enchantments, magical buildings such as portals, several events, a unique research tree, and a unique “magic” faction.”
Call of Cthulhu – Rim of Madness Expansion Pack – Spine-tingling cosmic horrors, themed objects and apparel from the late 18th until early 20th century, sacrificial cult gameplay, and horrific events. I’ve used this the “Cults” portion of this before, and it was pretty fun, but rather dark.
Lord of the Rims – This is a community project to bring one of our favorite film and book series, Lord of the Rings to RimWorld. I don’t personally use this one, but probably will eventually.
UN Colony – This mod adds many things to build a new kind of colony. 12 generators and 3 solar panels, Walls, fences, doors, floors and paint. Also allows for new item production. Also see UN-Funiture.
Factions: Interactions with those random shapes on the map
I forget what life was like playing Rimworld without these mods. I like the socializing piece of the game. These are my must haves when it comes to Faction interaction.
Better Roads – Basically just shows the roads in the world map more prominently with brighter colors & delineates between different road types more clearly.
Orion’s Hospitality – Allows you to host, entertain and recruit visitors. Convince visitors to join your faction, trade with them, allow them to shop from your inventory. Pretty fun, since if you can’t do this, the wandering people are pretty much pointless. SHOULD BE LAST IN YOUR MOD LIST*
Let’s Trade! – Adds more trader variety to Rimworld. Now there aren’t just 4 boring factions!!
More Trade Ships – Increases the rate at which orbital trade ships appear. You have to build the Orbital Beacon, etc. before this one is implemented, just FYI.
More Faction Interaction – Adds more interaction with and between factions. More traders come visit / more events populate.
Trading Spot – A designated spot for traders to stop at. Helpful if you don’t want your traders to eat all your damn vegetables in the garden.
Wandering Caravans – Wandering Caravans adds the possibility for pack animals, that have been separated from the trade caravans of factions, to appear near a colony or be spotted by one of your trade caravans. Often have valuable inventory!
RimQuest – “Adds quest givers to trader groups and caravans. This mod exists for those of us who feel that RimWorld could use a little more direction from time to time, and a good quest is just what we need!”
Set Up Camp – “For all your caravan managing needs, you can now set up camp anywhere. This let’s you travel to hunt, forage and mine without having to ‘settle’ every time.” DOWNLOAD THIS ONE. It’s soooo helpful.
Real Ruins – This mod generates ruins on your map. Ruins of real bases of other players. I found this one to be pretty messy (visually, lots of dust and grime and just…there was too much stuff), and I’m not using it now, but it was awesome.
Glitter Tech– This mod builds upon the existing information in the game that mentions “glitter worlds”, which are presumably super high tech societies. Adds a bunch of factions and abilities to purchase more advanced items.
Sparkling Worlds– The main features of this mod is to increase the ability to craft advanced Glittertech items and introduce some new advanced weapons, items and buildings from Glitterworlds
Colonists: Fun mod for your pawns
Children, Schools, and Learning – Your pawns can have children!! Kids are born at 15 and are basically a composite of the 2 pawns who “Got Some Lovin”. Also brings schools, learning, and teachers to the game. I like this one a lot.
Colony Leadership – Elect specialized leaders with increased stats and capacity to teach others.
Psychology – Total overhaul of Rimworld’s psychological and social systems. Personality traits will affect absolutely every facet of their interactions with other people, which have also been expanded to allow your colonists more ways to get to know each other and express their individuality.
[RF] Rumor Has It…. [1.0] – Have you ever wondered why your pawns don’t talk about each other? Well, now they do.
Misc Incidents – Adds a few new incidents to your gameplay, including Crashed Escape Capsule, Tactical Computer / Terminal, Battlefield, and Artefacts. Dependent on Misc ‘CORE’.
Expanded Incidents– Adds new incidents to your gameplay that are more psychological than anything. Including quarrels, homesick, cliques, sabotage, and thieves. Works well with Psychology mod.
Pawn Appearance
Visible Pants – Self explanatory. Lets you see colonists pants.
[Ods] Men’s Hair – Adds realistic hair styles for men.
Lovely Hair Styles – Some pretty normal female hair that isn’t super anime-ish.
[KV] Show Hair With Hats or Hide All Hats – Show hair for all hats.
Battles: Mods that impact raids, seiges, mad animals, etc.
So I like RimWorld primarily for the “Builder” aspect of it, but obviously raids, seiges, etc happen, so these are the few but mighty mods I enjoy using to help me with that aspect of it.
SearchAndDestroy – Tired of pawns lounging about during the heat of the battle after their first kill? Or got an easy raid and don’t want to micromanage everything? Toggle Search and Destroy to let the AI take control over your pawns while you sit back and enjoy the slaughter, and intervene at any time just in case they screw up.
RunAndGun – Pawns now shoot while running. Rambo style.
Defensive Positions – Allows your colonists to remember their position during base defense. You can send off your colonists to their positions with a single click. Also provides keys to quickly create and select groups of colonists for easier control in battle.
GiddyUp! Caravan – Let your colonists ride to far lands on elephants, muffalos, llamas or any other animal!!
GiddyUp! Ride and Roll – Save your colonists the pain of walking everywhere, as it allows them to use mounts whenever it makes sense.
GiddyUp! Battle Mounts – Let your pawns charge into battle with mounts! Depends on Giddy-up Core and Hugslib.
VGL Weapons Pack – I’m not super into the raids in the game, but I like VGL weapons pack.
Customize: If you like to tailor your world!
If you like to customize your gameplay, I recommend these bad boys:
Before Game Start
Prepare Carefully – Technically a customization mod, My #1 recommended mod if you want to customize the pawns you send to the Rim. Easy to and make your life easier at the start of a new game by sending your pawns with tons of materials (which I am 100% guilty of). I love to make my boyfriend and I as pawns in a relationship, and whenever we inevitably break up because of stress from the Rim, I execute his new girlfriend :–)
Faction Control [1.0] – “Faction Control” provides you with a number of configuration options that you can use to tailor which and how many faction groups and faction bases show up on your map. Define the total number of faction groups which should appear on your world map, as well as their qualities.
Realistic Planets – Create a wider variety of planets, and also “cleans up” the game’s biome placement so that the planets you play on look more… realistic.
Configurable Maps – “Configurable Maps” provides you with a number of configuration options that you can use to tailor the way your maps generate. Simply visit “Mod Settings” from the game’s “Options” menu. You’ll find three different sets of options for the mod.
In Game
Better Pawn Control – Set colonists and animals to outfits, areas, drugs, food in one single action. Setup different policies and switch at will. You wish to have different outfits policies by season or by events like raid or toxic fallout? This mod can help you!
Pawn Rules– Customize rules for colonists, prisoners, and animals. For instance, you could force prisoners to only eat raw corpses. Make your animals not eat any of those precious packages survival meals. If you dont want those annoying notifications about “tattered apparel”, force colonists to only be able to wear apparel with 52%+ hit points that are not tainted. Pretty cool mod.
Work Tab – Provides a vastly more customizable work tab, both in number of “work” related activities and day parting.
Rename Colony – Lets you quickly and easily rename your faction & community/base names mid game.
More Planning – This mod creates a new option in the “Architect” menu, called “Planning”, with more options for planning.
Quality of Life: You never knew you needed these until you had them.
Smart Speed – Just download it. You need it, trust me. Allows the use of ultra speed and change event speed multiplier.
Allow Tool– Just download it. You need it to survive. Easily forbid and unforbid items, select similar things, have things hauled urgently and affect the entire map with powerful new tool extensions.”
Blighted Alert – Alerts you of blights so you can cut those crops ASAP. Download it. Wish Vanilla did this automatically.
Interaction Bubbles – Actually see lil bubbles for what your pawns are talking about!
Pick up and haul – Colonists will gather stuff in their inventory, then haul it all to a stockpile. Now your pawns can carry multiple things at once!! It’s v v v v necessary.
Haul to Stack – Haulers will prioritize hauling to an existing stack even when multiple pawns are hauling. Sometimes I feel like this doesn’t always work, but it’s definitely better than having pawns haul a single medicine right next to a whole stack of medicine, especially if you’re using OgreStack.
Please Haul Perishables – Prioritize hauling perishables or food over non-perishables.
Where Is My Weapon? – If a pawn goes down in battle and drops their weapon, once they can walk again they will re-equip the same weapon. Super useful.
While You’re Up [1.0] – The description of this mod says it best: “But Jim, you’re literally walking from the forest back to where this wood needs to go. Can’t you just carry some of it while you’re up?”
Numbers – Adds a customizable general overview tab, allowing you to see any stats on all your colonists or prisoners in a single window. Just download this. You need it.
InventoryTab – Ugh. I love this mod. Now you can view and search for every single item in your stockpiles, on a pawn, or on the map. You’ll never have to manually scan your super disorganized giant piles for what you’re looking for. It’s amazing.
Evil Tacticians Rimworld Tweaks – A set of tweaks and changes that enhance the Rimworld Experience. Best ones I take full advantage of are additional medicine production, increased numbers of materials when you smelt or refine, and BULK PRODUCTION!! Also adds some new clothing like a fur coat, which is not only fashionable, but also v warm in the winter :–)
OgreStack – Mod for customizing stack sizes. As well as the ability to target specific items.
Stackable Chunks – A small, simple mod that makes chunks stackable. Trust me – you didn’t know how annoying not being able to stack chunks was.
Color-Coded Mood Bar – Color codes each pawn’s mood bar within the colonist bar based on their current mood. If a pawn is about to freak out, they’ll be bright red, and you’ll be very sure that a tantrum or corpse obsession will likely come soon if they dont start eating with a damn table or get their recreation fulfilled!!!!
Auto Owl – “This mod makes it so that colonists and prisoners with the trait Night Owl will have an alternative initial schedule to avoid working during the day and suffering -10 mood as a result.” Pretty useful.
Path Avoid – Allows you to “nudge” the pathfinding system for your pawns, to make them prefer and avoid different areas. I like this one because obviously I do NOT want my pawns to go through a cave where there are massive attacking bugs, or perhaps I want them to AVOID PASSING A HUGE GROUP DURING A RAID. Pawns are so stupid, sometimes they need some help to know the best way to go.
Invisible Conduits – This is more a preference, but it improves my quality of life because now I don’t have to see those ugly wires on the ground!
Replace Stuff – SUPER RECOMMEND THIS ONE. Place blueprints over other blueprints. So if you have a dreaded wood wall, and want to change it to granite, you can simply drag a new granite wall blueprint over the existing structure. It’s amazing.
Draggable Corners – Can make a square when you build structures instead of having to do individual lines. Very convenient. Once you start using this one you’ll be like, “wow, i didn’t know I needed this, but now i can’t live without it.”
Rain Washes Away Filth – Yeah. Self explanatory. Rain washes away all filth. It’s bomb.
Animals: All mods related to the beautiful Rim creatures, especially puppers
A Dog Said… Animal Prosthetics – Adds prosthetics/bionics and surgeries for VANILLA animals
Alpha Animals – Was hesitant to download this at first because I like having realistic animals, but what’s really great about this mod is that it provides animals that are useful. For instance, Groundrunners will mine for you once their trained up. I love this mod.
AnimalCollabProj – Adds a ton of new animals to the Rim. Some will spawn in your terrain, others are only able to be traded. Right now I have a pack of lions, and I love them.
More Pack Animals – More animals can carry belongings while traveling.
Genetic Rim – Extract DNA from animals and hybridize them to create new, exotic species!
Jurassic Rimworld 1.0 – Adds dinosaurs, new pack animals, Jurassic World furniture and buildings, mineable Amber, and DNA reconstructing. Pretty fun to tame and train pack of dinosaurs and attack your enemies, but I find it becoming monotonous over time. Dinos also tend to attack quite frequently, so take that as you will.
Animal Variety Coats – Adds coat variety to animals
Hunt for me– Add hunting training to tamed animals.
Statue of Animal – Not REALLY related to animals, but add a statue of animals on sculptor table.
Animal Tab – Adds extra functionality to the Animals tab.
Animals Logic – Adds animal-related quality-of-life enhancements. You can assign animals beds, allows animals to follow masters when hunting or when drafted, egg layers will find a bed to lay eggs in, etc.
Add Ons: For those who want more activities / items
Activities
Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering – This mod gives you the ability to craft your own prostheses and artificial organs. PUT AT THE END OF YOUR MOD LIST*
VGP Vegetable Garden – Adds new crops. Almost like a core mod – other VGP Mods are dependent on this one to run correctly.
FishIndustry – Build a fishing pier, and your colonists treat it like hunting.
Loot Boxes – Buy loot boxes from traders or build a mysterious red chest and exchange gold and silver to buy different kinds of loot boxes with different items in them.
Structures
MoreFloors – If you’re like me and wanted some Floor Variety, MoreFloors is your best bet. Adds some good ones.
Floored – Changes the look of the default floor tiles by tweaking the colours and replacing most of the floor textures. Adds a few more tiles to the game too.
Labels on Floor – Self explanatory, but names your rooms with labels on the floor. Pretty useful, but not very pretty.
Embrasures – Adds embrasures for that can be shot through, while blocking passage, giving your colonists an advantage in combat.
Buildable Terrain – This mod contains buildable terrains any tile can be replaced and built over. All terrain tiles are now found under terraforming tab. Don’t cost any resources, and make the outdoors nice and pretty. I use them for walkways (smooth marble, smooth granite, etc). Helps with cleanliness.
HD Terrain Pack – Changes most of the games terrain to HD realistic textures. Could also be considered a quality of life mod.
Furniture
Rimworld Star Wars Faction Mod
More Furniture – Adds about a dozen new items into Rimworld.
Door Mat 1.0– Basically just a door mat that I can’t be sure actually helps with cleanliness, but I like to have them nonethless.
Advanced Cooling – This mod adds an advanced cooler which doesn’t emit heat! I use this over in wall / over wall coolers.
Outdoor Lighting – Introduces a number of options for outdoor lighting. Good for outdoor walkways and gardens. Solar lamp is bomb.
Wall Light – Place these lights directly on your walls! Much better than the large lightbulb provided to you in Vanilla, lol.
Recreation
Additional Joy Objects – Adds new objects & activities that bring joy to colonists: board games, arcades, paintings, etc.
Misc Training – This adds some training facilities, like shooting target, martial arts dummy, and archery target. These are all forms of recreation.
Zen Garden – Adds decorative garden stuff. Some of it is recreation.
Other: I’ve used before but am not using now, I’ve heard good things and want to try, etc.
Dubs Paint Shop – Lets you paint everything to look pretty and match. I like the challenge of getting enough stone to build everything to match, so I’m not currently using this one.
Sometimes Raids Go Wrong – This mod allows storytellers to add a random and sometimes hilarious twist to a raid. I stopped using this one when I captured tons of prisoners but then they all STARTING AGING RAPIDLY AND DIED WITHOUT ME GETTING TO USE THEIR ABILITIES.
Megafauna – Adds 38 different species of animals that used to inhabit planet Earth thousands to millions years ago and look to be GIANT.
Prison Labor – Make ur prisoners do work!
Westerado Core – Pretend RimWorld is Westworld. “Westerado is designed around vanilla-extension, specifically adding more mid-game weapons, apparel, items and functionality. All done in the already existing western theme in Rimworld.”
Red Horse Furniture – “From Project: Red Horse, an expansion pack that deals in warfare, dedicated to make your colony looking tacticool as heck.”
Deconstruct Return Fix – The game has a bug where the maximum number of drops for a given resource cost when deconstructing a building is one less than the actual cost (example: takes 5 bricks to build a wall, deconstruct and only get 4 back). This mod fixes that.
Nature is Beautiful – Makes nature intrinsically beautiful to pawns.
Veinminer 1.0 – This mod lets you designate all connected minerals to be mined, even if you can’t see them.
RimWriter – Add tablets, books, scrolls, libraries, and more to your RimWorld playthroughs.

Mod List Order
I’ve seen a lot of requests in the comments for my order.
Honestly it’s been trial and error for me. Make sure to put all of the “Core” Mods at the top, obviously. After that I tend to try and put all of the ones I subjetively think are “big” or “impactful” closer to the top (i.e. they will effect most everything else in my gameplay). For example, mods that relate to faction interaction, like Medieval Times. After, I tend to put anything related to my colonists life, and quality of life mods (work tab, psychology, etc). The bottom mods are usually the “things” or “items” because they impact the least in my game. And the absolute last things I put are the ones that specifically state in the description, “put at end of mod list.”
I may have more or less mods from or not from the list in my current order, so please don’t crucify me here if what you see below doesn’t match exactly the mods i’ve provided details on!
